Bioindicators

Traditionally, the health of aquatic systems has been inferred from water quality monitoring. It is important to recognise that water quality itself is only an indicator, and therefore "good" water quality does not necessarily relate to "healthy" systems.

In many cases , bioindicators can be used to assess management actions by measuring ecological change. The team has experience in the following:

Bioindicator
As a response to

Epiphytes
Nutrients

Seagrass
Sedimentation
  Sponges Turbidity
  Fish Water quality, aquatic vegetation
  Macroinvertebrates Water quality
  Mussels Turbidity, Water quality
